A Franchise Success Story

Considering starting a business, or buying a franchise, in the Dallas – Ft Worth area? If so, then a success story is just what you need!

At FranNet, we love nothing more than sharing a wonderful success story from one of our valued clients. In our regular business dealings, we get to meet so many interesting people. Matching them up with a franchise opportunity that’s suited just for them is what gives us the largest dose of satisfaction. This week, we’re sharing the story of Will Vehrs. His story is a special one for us because it so effectively showcases the synergy created when one arrives at the crossroads of chance and opportunity.

Will Vehrs is no stranger to the entrepreneurial business model. In fact, he coached it for over 17 years at the Virginia Business Information Center, counseling and training others on how to begin a small business of their own. And he was good at it—awfully good. His story of innovation and evolution would lead him to invest in his own franchise opportunity, as he is now the owner of an Express Employment Professionals franchise.

After achieving the rank of Captain in the US Army Reserves, Vehrs went on to work for Mobil Oil, handling marketing, operations, and facilities management. He left only after the company reorganized and he accepted a leveraged severance package. From there, his skill at organization was truly actualized at his next stint, handling economic development for the Virginia Department of Business Assistance. In one of his proudest moments, he established the foundation of another sub-agency, the Virginia Business Information Center. This became a “one-stop shop” where businesses could find valuable information to assist in their continued growth. What he really did was consolidate a scattered process, bringing operations into one central business center with one phone and a toll-free number. That streamlined process Vehrs created blossomed into a center handling 20,000 calls per year.

Over time, Vehrs took note of all of the people he assisted in forming their own business and began to wonder where his future may fit in all of this. Through the newly established business center, he met FranNet consultant Heather Rosen. And this serendipitous meeting would set Vehrs on a path to achieving what he already had accomplished for so many others – starting his own business.

To Vehrs, franchising was the only way to go. He liked the fact that an established franchise was, in a way, a jumpstart on the path of small business ownership. And it didn’t take long for Rosen to pinpoint just the right opportunity for Vehrs. A match developed in Express Employment Professionals, which provided not only a quick break-even business model but solid corporate support and a focus on helping communities at the local level. In a way, Vehrs invested in a franchise where his previous experience was all but unmatched – helping other businesses.

Today, he has the satisfaction of helping others as he’s always done. The only difference is that this business is all his own. “I wanted to find an opportunity that was a great fit for me,” said Vehrs. “With Heather’s help, I was able to focus my search into a smooth and seamless process. And I couldn’t be happier with Express Employment. I’ve become part of the family.”
